Meet Broadway Wiz Bright Star, Sandy from New York City.
Sandy’s dream role is Trina in Falsettos and she would love to duet with Nick Barasch.
On average, how many Broadway shows do you see a year?
15-20
Favorite Broadway show:
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
All-time favorite performer:
Male: Michael Cerveris, Female: Audra McDonald
Songs you like to belt in the shower:
“Way Back In the Day” (Bright Star), “I’m Breaking Down” (In Trousers/Falsettos) and “Beautiful Day” (Triassic Parq)
Favorite piece of theater memorabilia you own:
Letter from Stephen Sondheim before I wrote a Sondheim revue
Most memorable performance you’ve ever seen:
Live: Spelling Bee’s 10th Anniversary Concert. To see the show that sparked my interest in theater again and watch them all come together- it was beautiful.
Recorded: TIE! Ragtime’s OBC Tony performance. Because Ragtime is the most meaningful show there is. And then, in its entirety, the Studio 54 Broadway production of Assassins. I saw the archival recording because of a paper I had to write freshman year. My friend was in it, and it’s my favorite Sondheim show!
Best interaction you have had with another theater fan:
I used to go to a theater camp, and there was this class called Musical of the Day. It’s how I met many of my closest friends, because it was the truly academic theater fans. It was a very geeky bunch.
Why do you love theater?
I love theater because it is an opportunity to see the world through the lens of someone else.
Dream roles?
Top two: Trina in Falsettos, Rose in Gypsy.
Best stagedoor or backstage experience?
Stage door. I got a kiss from one of Broadway’s finest young actors, Josh Castille, on the closing night of Spring Awakening. I was hardcore blushing.
Backstage: at Hair on Broadway where everyone was a solid foot taller than I was.
Favorite spots in NYC:
1. NYPL of the Performing Arts in Lincoln Center
2. Circle in the Square Theater
3. Backstage at Jazz at Lincoln Center

If you could sing a duet or perform a scene with any Broadway star, who would it be?
I have quite a few but I would love to sing “You’ll Never Get Away from Me” from Gypsy with Nick Barasch.
Did you ever fangirl when you met an actor/performer?:
I have followed the work of Danny Burstein for years. When I met him after Fiddler, I just started crying. He hugged me.
