Michael Cerveris Releases New Track Crescent

Multi-faceted singer, guitarist and actor, Michael Cerveris, releases his newest single, “Crescent”. The track is off his soon to be released album, Piety, which is slated for an early February 2016 release.

Piety is Cerveris’ second anticipated album, following Dog Eared, which was released in 2004. The album will feature musicians Paul Sanchez, Anders Osborne, Mia Borders, Alex McMurray, Rod Hodges (the Iguanas), Sam and Jack Craft (Sweet Crude), Helen Gillet, Shamarr Allen and Linzay Young (Red Stick Ramblers), along with Kimberly Kaye, Kendall Meade (Mascott), and Steve Gleason, all from the musician’s hometown, New Orleans. “Crescent” was premiered on The Big Takeover who called it an “pastoral, lushly orchestrated” track. Full feature here. I have listened to the song a couple of times and it’s so soulful and meaningful. Cerveris has a great voice.

While Cerveris has been a musician for years, he is well known for his current role in Broadway’s Fun Home, which just landed him a Tony Award for best lead actor in a musical. Playbill called Cerveris “arguably the most versatile leading man on Broadway.” Cerveris has shared the stage with artists Pete Townshed, Frank Black, The Breeders and Teenage Fanclub, and was the guitarist on Bob Mould’s 1998 Last Dog and Pony Show tour of the US and UK.

Those who have had the pleasure of seeing Cerveris in action are hit with his multi-fascinated talents. Stay tuned for more from Cerveris and his upcoming album, Piety, out February 5, 2016.
