Meet Broadway Wiz Bright Star, Matthew from Vineland, NJ!
Matt is a master of accents and his favorite show is She Loves Me.
On average, how many Broadway or Off-Broadway shows do you see a year?
4 or 5 (I cannot even began to tell you how many times I’ve entered the Hamilton lottery!)
How many local shows or community theater shows do you see a year?
As many as possible!
Favorite Broadway show:
She Loves Me
All-time favorite performer:
NEIL PATRICK HARRIS!
Songs you like to belt in the shower:
“Try Me” (from She Loves Me)
Favorite piece of theater memorabilia you own:
I have a signed tweet by NPH!
Most memorable performance you’ve ever seen:
I’m torn between Cynthia Erivo singing “I’m Here” in The Color Purple, and Jane Krakowski and her fabulous splits (at 47 years old!) in She Loves Me
Best interaction you have had with another theater fan:
I was once talking to a girl who said she spent her college tuition money on a ticket to Hamilton. It really doesn’t get much better than that!
Why do you love theater?
I have always been obsessed with theatre; I’ve been performing since the age of 6! Whenever kids would hand me a ball, I’d hand them a script and make them perform a full blown production in the living room.
Fiyero, Arpad, Marius, Donkey, anything comedic!
Best stagedoor or backstage experience?
Meeting Zachary Levi was a great experience! Such a genuine and caring person!
Favorite spots in NYC:
Broadway, Times Square, Crumbs, Amy’s Bread, 54 Below, Sardi’s.
If you could sing a duet or perform a scene with any Broadway star, who would it be?
Either NPH or Aaron Tveit!
Did you ever fangirl when you met an actor/performer?:
I’m actually not too bad when it comes to stage doors; If you are in my way I will push. In a friendly way though, I promise (wink)! *If I ever see NPH, you probably shouldn’t get in my way!
What would your super power be?
The ability to get front row tickets and backstage passes to any show of my choice
Besides theater, what are some of your other passions or hobbies?
I enjoy reading, writing, running, singing, and I also take part in the Interact Club in my hometown. I’m also an expert on any tv show, so ask me anything!
Anything else you would like to share? Funny stories, weird facts about yourself, cool talents?
I definitely am king of accents. Every show that I’ve done lately, has required some type of accent. I went from a Jamaican crustacean (Sebastian in The Little Mermaid) to a Latin lover (Aldolpho in Drowsy Chaperone).
