Meet Broadway Wiz Bright Star, Katie from Cleveland, OH.
Katie is a huge fan of Idina Menzel and loves If/Then. She keeps herself busy running the Idina Menzel Fanzels page on Facebook!

1 if lucky
How many local shows or community theater shows do you see a year?
7-9

All-time favorite performer:
Idina Menzel

Songs from Idina Menzel, “Defying Gravity”
Favorite piece of theater memorabilia you own:

Most memorable performance you’ve ever seen:
The most memorable performance I’ve ever seen is Come From Away with the original Broadway cast. They told the story and made it memorable. Everyone was into it, had beautiful voices and couldn’t be nicer at the stage door!
Best interaction you have had with another theater fan:
The best interaction I’ve had with another theater fan was at BroadwayCon this past year. She was from Maine and knew I loved If/Then. She had autograph session which I didn’t have, but knew I wanted and out of the goodness of her heart, gave me it. I hope to meet up with her again in BroadwayCon 2018.
Why do you love theater?
Theater takes me to a place, an evening where I can sit back, enjoy the show and watch the story come to life. It allows me to take something away from the message being portrayed and help me apply it to my life some way or another.
Dream roles?
My dream role would be Elphaba in Wicked. I love the story behind the misunderstood green girl and I hope to inspire others to do the same along the way. I also would enjoy stage dooring because I know how much it means to me when someone I adore takes time out of their day to meet with me. I hope to give that same excitement to others.
Best stagedoor or backstage experience?
Best stagedoor experience was recently when I saw Come From Away. All the actors but one came out and went down the line. They talked to practically everyone, no one was rushed, posed for pictures and signed autographs. You can tell they wanted to do it and made it even more exciting. A close second was If/Then National tour in CA with some of the OBC. I tweeted them a lot (4 Twitter binders later) and they all knew who I was!
Favorite spots in NYC:
I don’t go there often, but I love Times Square and seeing all the Broadway marquees. I also hit Schmackery’s, so that is off my bucket list!
If you could sing a duet or perform a scene with any Broadway star, who would it be?
Idina Menzel
Did you ever fangirl when you met an actor/performer?:
I will when I meet Idina Menzel one day.
Favorite thing about Broadway Wiz?
The merchandise
What would your super power be?
Having all the money in the world to see as many Broadway shows as I like.
Besides theater, what are some of your other passions or hobbies?
Some of my other passions include traveling abroad, going to Cleveland Cavaliers games (NBA basketball), hanging with my cats, spending time with family and friends and hosting foreign exchange students.
Where can we stalk you online?
I run the Idina Menzel Fanzels Page and Idina’s USA Group on Facebook. It keeps me busy daily but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. They keep growing, member wise, and I’m very proud that I chose to create them! I hope the Queen herself stops in one day. I’m happy to answer questions about it if you’d like. I’m also on Twitter and Instagram.
Anything else you would like to share? Funny stories, weird facts about yourself, cool talents?
When I was 10, I only knew the RENT movie cast as well as the show CATS. I thought those were the ONLY people on Broadway at all! Needless to say how silly I was back then.
