Roundabout Theatre Company wants to encourage theater-going among the younger adult generation, and their aim is to make shows more affordable. That is why they created a program called Hiptix. Hiptix offers low-priced tickets to all Roundabout shows, and anyone between 18-35 can join for FREE. Unlike other discount programs, you don’t have to be a student to qualify!
Members of the program receive emails when tickets for new shows go on sale. Hiptix generally reserves 10-40 tickets for each show that can cost between $20-$30 each. You can reserve up to two tickets per production, and your guest can be any age. If you have more than two friends you want to go with, give Hiptix a call and link your accounts together.
The seats are typically located in the back or Mezzanine, but in my experience they are usually good views. For that price it’s pretty fantastic! (Alternatively you can sign up for Hiptix Gold which costs $75/year and gives you access to $25 Orchestra seats.)
Hiptix has allowed me to see some great shows at discounted prices– Violet, Cabaret, Into the Woods, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and more! Some of the more popular shows sell out their Hiptix allotment really quickly, so make sure to purchase your seats as soon as the tickets go on sale. Hiptix for Into the Woods are already sold out, but you can now get tickets to see Kristin Chenoweth star in On the Twentieth Century (previews beginning in February).
