Meet Broadway Wiz Bright Star, Brittany from Glenbeulah, WI.
Brittany’s favorite show is Newsies and she would love to sing a duet with Kara Lindsay!
On average, how many Broadway or Off-Broadway shows do you see a year?
How many local shows or community theater shows do you see a year?
Favorite Broadway show:
All-time favorite performer:
Joshua Burrage or Carolee Carmello
Songs you like to belt in the shower:
“Defying Gravity”; “Watch What Happens”; “The Wizard and I”; “Everlasting”
Favorite piece of theater memorabilia you own:
Probably the newspaper pieces that get thrown into the audience during Newsies “Seize the Day”
Most memorable performance you’ve ever seen:
I think the most memorable performance(s) I’ve ever seen would be the Newsies tour performances in Chicago. I just love being in those audiences because they are just so full on energy and I can definitely see the cast members are feeding off of the energy the audience is giving. And I think that’s what makes those performances so memorable-the cast is literally giving 150% and are having so much fun!
Best interaction you have had with another theater fan:
Oh gosh, there are a couple! I think the best interaction I’ve had with another theater fan is actually meeting them for the first time! Once again going back to when I saw Newsies in Chicago, I got to meet some of my best internet friends for the first time in person, which was incredible! We probably looked crazy running at each other and pulling each other into a big hug, but it was amazing!
Why do you love theater?
I love theater because it allows people to be able to express themselves and be involved in such a welcoming and loving community. There are so many different ways to get involved and there is usually something for everyone! I actually did a whole research paper on the importance of theater because it means so much to me. No matter where you come from, what age you are, what your beliefs are, gender, etc., anyone could attend or be in theater productions which is just amazing! I think it’s amazing to be able to Stage Door and meet the hard working actors and actresses or your idols! Theater also helps break the fourth wall and lets the audience members feel involved in the production!
Probably G(a)linda in Wicked or Christine in The Phantom of the Opera!
Best stagedoor or backstage experience?
Definitely when I gave Joshua Burrage the bacon scarf I crocheted him! Josh is on the 1st National Tour of Newsies and loves bacon, so I decided to make him a bacon scarf. His face lit up and it was the best 30 seconds ever!
Favorite spots in NYC:
I’ve never been to NYC but I know that when I do make it there, Schmackary’s will totally be a stop!
If you could sing a duet or perform a scene with any Broadway star, who would it be?
Did you ever fangirl when you met an actor/performer?:
Every time! Even when I see them on the streets or in restaurants, I’m internally freaking out!
Favorite thing about Broadway Wiz?
How amazingly nice Joy is, the giveaways, being able to help with her interview questions, and being able to know a little more about Broadway stars!
What would your super power be?
The ability to heal
Besides theater, what are some of your other passions or hobbies?
I love to bake and cook and when I’m not at work or school, I’m usually reading, running, crocheting, singing, binge-watching Law and Order SVU, and watching Disney movies!
